This Time Last Year.

I

This time last year we visited what quickly became my favourite place of all time - New York City. From the moment we arrived, we fell in love with the city. The whole place was buzzing and there was something going on around every corner.

We packed as much as we possibly could into the trip to get the best experience possible. We went to all the obvious tourist attractions, which lived up to and exceeded our expectations. We also went to a New York Giants American football game at the MetLife Stadium. The atmosphere was unreal there and I still can't comprehend how they fit so many people into one place! Unfortunately we were slightly late for the game so we missed the tailgating parties in the carpark before hand which I really wanted to see. If you don't already know, these are parties held in the car park of the stadium usually around the 'tail gates' of vehicles. People have beers and bring huge bbq's to have a pre-match get together.

We also went to a New York Rangers ice hockey game at Madison Square Garden which again, had a crazy atmosphere. I love the energy associated with everything in New York - even when there were breaks in the game, there would be some sort of competition or entertainment keeping everyone's interest.

To gain access to the majority of the attractions, we purchased a New York Pass. We bought a five day pass prior to our trip which was well worth the money. We received a complimentary 200 page guide book with the pass which detailed all the attractions and discounts you could receive by using the pass. I liked it because we paid the money prior to the holiday and therefore could spend the money we took with us on ourselves and on all the amazing food there. Also, the more you used the pass, the better value for money you got so we used it as much as possible - I would definitely recommend it.

Finally to finish my little memoir of my favourite holiday, I'd like to talk about the food.. which was on another level in New York. Our favourite place we ate at was called The Counter - it was a burger bar where you had a check list for a menu and 'built your own burger' - so good we went back twice!

Have you ever been to New York?

What do you think?
