On 1st June 2016, we headed for Newcastle Airport ready to start what we were soon to find to be the best holiday of our lives so far (sorry NYC - you've been demoted to second place..). We arrived at Riva del Garda which is located on the Northern shores of Lake Garda in Italy at about midday. Riva is surrounded by mountains either side of the lake and was actually part of Austria until 1918 so the buildings and structures have an Austrian influence rather than Italian - fun fact for you there, thank me later.
My home town of Teesside often gets negative reviews from the people who live here (and often even people who don't) about it being a rubbish, industrial, scruffy place to live with nothing to do. And yes, some parts might be, but is that not the same for every town or city in the country?!
