Lake Garda Diaries | Part One.

On 1st June 2016, we headed for Newcastle Airport ready to start what we were soon to find to be the best holiday of our lives so far (sorry NYC - you've been demoted to second place..). We arrived at Riva del Garda which is located on the Northern shores of Lake Garda in Italy at about midday. Riva is surrounded by mountains either side of the lake and was actually part of Austria until 1918 so the buildings and structures have an Austrian influence rather than Italian - fun fact for you there, thank me later.

After dumping our bags in our hotel, we started our traditional first day of exploring to get our bearings. The lake is just beautiful. No words of mine are adequate enough to successfully describe how picturesque, serene and peaceful this place is so for now, I will leave you with some pics to do the job for me.

The following day, we walked from Riva to the next resort of Torbole which we were told was the windsurfing capital of Europe - it was windy alright! The 45 minute walk was along the winding lakes edge where we walked alongside Riva's marina, lots of wind surfing shops at Torbole and the pebbled beaches full of locals sunbathing.

After lots of walking we ended the day with a dip in the pool at the hotel spa, followed by lots of pizza, pasta and wine - perfecto.

If you want to see more amazing views and delicious Italian food, stay tuned for my next installment of Lake Garda Diaries - the next one is a little bit special...

What do you think? Have you been to Italy before?

    1. Hey Abbie, thanks so much for the lovely comment. I'm not that great at photography to be honest but the views in lake Garda were just so beautiful I couldn't really go wrong haha.
