Review | Wags & Whiskers, Stockton.

If you hadn't already guessed, Pepper plays a big part in our lives (for those who don't know who Pepper is, where have you been? she is our five year old Miniature Schnauzer and she is THE best doglet ever), so when we find somewhere for food where you can actually take dogs in and not just sit outside in the freezing cold beer garden, it's pretty exciting.

Wags and Whiskers initially started life as a pet boutique. There are two boutiques, one in Saltburn and one in my home town of Stockton. As the business grew and and the boutiques were a success, the Wags and Whiskers team opened up their first Canine Cafe also located in Stockton.

Me and my friend Ash decided to treat Pepper and Bramble (my Mam and Dad's pup - again, where have you been?) to a visit one Saturday afternoon last month and we weren't disappointed. The chairs have dogs printed on them, there are paw print mats on the floor for dog bowls and in addition to the human menu, Pepper and Bramble were pleased to see that there was an extensive doggy menu! After perusing the choices, both doglets opted for a doggy doughnut which looked like a real doughnut but was made out of dog food. Yup, this is for real. The doughnut was susbtantial and chewy meaning they didn't wolf it down in five seconds like they normally do with their food. This gave me and Ash lots of time to eat our panini's without two dogs staring at us during every bite!

The staff were really friendly here, as were the customers who all clearly loved dogs. There was even a lady in there without a dog who took a shine to Pepper (partly because Pepper wouldn't leave her alone and I was too engrossed in my conversation to pull her away - oops!). Overall, a brilliant place and we will no doubt be back time and time again.

Pepper and Bramble give it 10/10!

What do you think? Are there any dog friendly cafe's where you live?

  1. What a charming post, it brightened up my day! I’ve been to a dog café before in Thirsk called Bliss, and we really enjoyed it. Though we don’t own a dog at the moment, going into a pet friendly café can be really fun. I will definitely look out for the one you shared, as it’s not too far from my location. I love all the pretty details like the décor and doughnut dog treats. :-) xx
